Toad on a bronze staff
The significance of the
toad in Ancient Egypt waned before that of the frog. Because it is
poisonous, rendering it inedible to other animals, it seems particularly
apt as a magical charm. Toad and frog amulets are also used as symbols
of rebirth. This toad is squatting on a bronze staff, the use of which
is not clear.
