Cartonnage case
A painted cartonnage mummy case, made for a woman.The four Sons of Horus are represented on the front, together with the Scarab beetle god Khepry and two recumbant jackals, representing the god Anubis. A single band of hieroglyphs is inscribed on the lower half of the case. Cartonnage consisted of layers of linen or papyrus stiffened with gesso and often painted or gilded.
